*Gardening With Herbs* Many gardeners grow Nasturtium (Tropaeolaceae Majus) It's color range from maroon, orange, reddish brown, and red to creamy white. The tender young leaves, flowers and seed pods of this herb are often used in salads. The foliage is delightful, and humming birds enjoy sipping nector from it's smaller flowers. Nasturtioms grow quickly and bloom nearly all summer until late fall (depending on your zone) They can be started indoors from seeds in late February, then transplanted to the garden. (Tropaeolacea Majus) Variegata is another similar nasturtium that is very easy to grow. It's delicate flowers are pale yellow variegated in color.

Spearmint (Garden Mint) Mint water is much more refreshing on a hot summer day than pop, and the recipe is inside the seed packet. Chop mint and add it to fresh cooked vegetables, fish, meat, veal and fruit salad. Great for containers. This plant is a perennial sown in the spring after the last frost. Press seeds onto surface of the soil, spacing them 1/4". They emerge in 10 to 15 days. They will need to be thined.

*Garden Sage Leaves* Use fresh sage for the Holidays: you can garnish hoilday meat or vegetable platters with fresh sage leaves from the garden or market. The red of cranberries contrasts beautifully to green sage leaves. Place both around the holiday meat platter for decoration.
