In 1975, seventeen year-old Roland Lewis-Evans was the Wessex club's youngest pilot, flying a home-built standard rogallo. He became Kestrel Kites' sailmaker and subsequently sailmaker for Solar Wings. In the 1980s he flew a Southdown Sailwings Lightning (pictured here). Nowadays he flies powered ultralights.
Roland provided much of the Wessex club history on this web site where the author's knowledge had several years' worth of gaps.
