ABOUT
According to thefanlistings.org and all other people, a fanlisting is a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject, in this case, Baron.
Baron Humbert von Jikkingen, or Baron, is a character from Studio Ghibli. He appeared on "Mimi Wo Sumaseba" (Whisper of the Heart) and "Neko No Ongaeshi" (Cat's Return). On both movies, he is a cat statue with, well, human body of some sort. (see main image at the left).
In "Mimi Wo Sumaseba", he is merely a lifeless statue on a table in Nishi's store. Though during the movie you can notice that his form changes. Strange? Also, his eyes are made up of emerald. Nishi found him in Germany in a local cafe and wanted to buy him. But the proprietor said that Baron was part of the set. The other part, Louise, was out for repairs. And the two lovers could not be separated. But Nishi told the proprietor that he knew this woman, who would buy Louise. When they meet again, they shall reunite the dolls. Nishi was able to buy Baron, but wasn't able to find the woman again. Also, Baron is the main character in the story that Shizuku writes, entitled "Mimi Wo Sumaseba".
In "Neko No Ongaeshi", he is also a statue, standing by the window of the Cat's Business Office. Haru, the main character, saw him actually come to life and introduced himself. She asks him how he comes to life. Baron explains that when an artisan creates something full of hope and soul, the creation itself will have a soul. Baron helps Haru in the story, going to the Cat Kingdom, facing adventures within it, and going out of it.
THOUGHTS ON BARON
Just watch Neko No Ongaeshi to see his gentlemanly ways... Actually, I watched it 4 times in a row without getting sick of it. Too in love with a cat? Just watch. I've seen him turn humans to love cats...
