Even though information technology promises you a “paper less office”, you
are still required to take print outs. For this work we have several options
and let’s have a close look. |
 |
|
DOT MATRIX
Printers like Dot Matrix are fall into “Impact Printers” category. If you
are not consider the print quality and if do you need carbon copies, this is
ideal. But it’s noise in operation. Required ink is supplied via a ribbon.
It’s technology is very simple. Pins are
used to impact the media to print (draw) the letters or graphics.

DAISY-WHEEL
Another impact type printer. Could print limited characters using its wheel.
Very slow and if you need to change the font, change the wheel.
|
|
|
INK-JET
Cheaper printer in the market. Can make color prints too, ideal for photo
printing. Here the technology is spraying ink to the media. Some printers
use four color ink cartridge and some use six color ink cartridge. All other
colors are made mixing these basic colors. If you depend only on black, go
for a black only cartridge.

LASER
Sharp mind, sharp people. Expensive, but sharp. Operating cost is less than
ink jet, primary investment is higher. As it’s name, laser technology is
used here. Heated toner spread on the media as directed by the laser beam.
Inside a laser printer is another computer and ordinary users may have no
business with repairing it. Most prominent characters are speed, sharp and
silent (SSS).

PLOTTERS
For those who draw engineering documents in large format are encouraged to
use them. Four different plotters are available. Pen plotters, Ink-Jet
plotters, Electrostatic plotter and Direct-imaging plotter are them. Rarely
used among ordinary computer users

THERMAL
PRINTERS
To take print outs, you should insert special “heat sensitive paper” into
the printer. Because of these luxuries usage is rare. But generate high
quality documents. |
