What is spam? Have you got a email account and is it web based free mail box. You may have got emails from strangers offering “interest free loans”, “credit card discounts” and much more. Poor marketers send such messages to get response from people. They are not send individually, but over million at a time.
 

How to avoid spam

My tips won't work hundred percent. But you may avoid most of them.

Never reply to a spam. Then spammer knows your email account is active. They want such active accounts.

Use your mail programs filter facility. Set it to avoid messages that their heading contain words such as "sex, viagra, free, refill ink jet", but be aware if you use all the words in the dictionary you may not receive spams, since no email to you.

Web based account holders may check their web sites to check spam control facilities. These are differ from site to site.

AOL can configure to avoid mails sent from a address that is not specified by you. But if your friend change his address he also may not be able to mail you. But people like me can't say only who should send me emails.

Use two addresses. One for general use (for eg. on the net and for strangers) and one for personal use (for eg to communicate with your relatives). Do not use your personal address when you filling web forms.

When you submit info to newsgroups change your address as following example.

actual : banda@yahoo.com
changed : banda_die_spammer_die@yahoo.com or banda_remove_this@yahoo.com

Be creative when you get a email address. For example instead of band@yahoo.com change is as ask_banda@yahoo.com. Because these are hard to imagine.

Use spam blocking software to fire a cruse missile against spammers. Two well known programs are Spam Buster and Spam Killer.
