Waiting
Waiting at home for dad
To come home from seeing his sister
In the hospital’s emergency room.

Mom and us kids cook and clean
If my aunt dies, dad will be sad
Besides, it’s time for lunch.

Everyone comes here, aunts and uncles.
Out on the deck to eat.
Their back from the hospital.

What happened?  Did she die?
I think she must have,
But don’t know till after dark.
