This was a test to see which had more power, a compound
bow or a crossbow. the bow is a Browning with a 50lbs draw. the crossbow is a 150lbs draw.
i used normal arrows with practice points. The metal is 16 GA spring steel that has been
worked
cold.
The test was done for my own curiocity, i have been told for years that a crossbow had more punch and it would go right through any type of plate armour, but my test showed just the oposite. You can see the hole made by the bow, the arrow went in about 6inches and was totally destroyed. the crossbow bolt kept bouncing off the plate only leaving small holes ( about 1/16th of an inch). the small dent on the right hand side is where the bolt hit. Had i used a broadheads i dont know how this test would have resulted. i have learned allot about the long bow and its myths, and have found that when in the hands of a skilled archer a crossbow and a longbow were very formidable weapons
