Papua tribesmen settle death score
Police in the Indonesian province of Papua says several days of fighting between two
tribes has ended after a man died Tuesday.
Police say each tribe has now suffered two deaths.
The clashes, in which fighters used spears, bows and arrows, ended after the death of
the fourth victim late this afternoon, local time.
Police say the Nduga and Damal tribes are now holding a ceremony, ending
hostilities.
Fighting flared over the weekend following the death of a Nduga tribesman in a dispute
about two months ago. Two people were killed Saturday and Monday and about 50
injured.
About 10 people were injured in the latest fighting. Police say fighting could resume if
any of the injured men die.
