Indonesia responds to change in terrorist tactics
Indonesian police say they are stepping up security for diplomats after reports Islamic
militants are targeting foreign envoys.
The move was revealed by Indonesia's national police chief, General Da'i Bachtiar,
after a cabinet meeting in Jakarta.
Police and western intelligence reports have said militants operating in Indonesia have
changed tactics from bomb attacks on crowded places to targeting individual officials.
General Bachtiar also says the intelligence suggests it's not only foreigners who are
being targeted, but Indonesian officials too, including himself.
He did not elaborate.
The United States last week renewed a warning against travel to Indonesia.
Other western countries such as Australia and Britain also have issued warnings.
