Seized bombs and weapons destroyed
POSO, Central Sulawesi: Police in the Central Sulawesi regency of Poso destroyed
on Tuesday more than 2,000 rifles, guns, homemade bombs and ammunition that the
police discovered during door-to-door searches in the area in the past 10 months.
The weapons and bombs were burned and thrown out to the sea in a ceremony held
at Samudra Port in Poso city, attended by Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen.
Taufik Ridha.
The arms were confiscated by police and military personnel during a joint operation
called Sintuwu Maroso III, held from July last year to May this year. -- JP
