One Person Killed in Mimika Clash
TEMPO Interactive, Mimika, Papua:A clash between two groups, which took place at
Harapan Kwamki Lama sub district, Mimika Baru district, Mimika regency, Papua,
has claimed the life of one person.
According to information received by the Koran Tempo newspaper in Timika, the
victim's name is Oktovianus Komagal.
He died due to injuries sustained on the right of his chest and the left of his back on
Wednesday afternoon (14/07) following the clash on Freeport Lama street.
During the clash between the two groups, Mimika Police and Papua Police Mobile
Brigade B group members tried to drive away the crowds.
However, hundreds of people from the disputed parties ignored the police's efforts and
the police were forced to fire warning shots into the air in order to disperse the
crowds.
Suddenly, Oktovianus, who was involved in the clash, collapsed with blood all over his
body and then died due to his injuries.
Deputy head of Mimika Police, Comm. Rhinto Prastowo, could not confirm whether or
not the injuries suffered by Oktavianus had been caused by the bullets fired by the
police.
"We are yet to an receive official report from the hospital regarding this matter,"
