Coker Group Allegedly Behind Recent Bombings in Ambon
(Either COKER or RMS has always become the scapegoat)
TEMPO Interactive, Ambon, Maluku:More than two people have been questioned in
relation to the recent bombing incidents in Ambon, Maluku.
Maluku Police chief Brig. Gen. Aditya Warman made this statement to reporters in
Ambon on Wednesday (27/05).
Seen from the components used in the bombs, the recent bombing incidents are
assumed to have been carried out by experts.
"Those assembling the bombs are very expert in this matter. And, they made the
bombs to create fear amongst the public," said Aditya.
Meanwhile, Ambon Police chief Adj. High Comm. Leonidas Braksan admitted that the
recent bomb terror appeared to be similar to the ones that took place in 2002.
According to Braksan, the modus operandi of the recent bombing incidents is quite
similar to those carried out by the Coker gang (Cowok Keren or Handsome Boys) led
by Berthy Loupatty in 2002.
This gang has a headquarters in Kudamati area, Nusaniwe sub district, Ambon, an
area is also used as a headquarters by theMaluku Sovereignty Front (FKM), which
supports the South Maluku Republic (RMS) separatist movement.
"The modus operandi of the recent bombings is similar to the bombings of the
California ship and in Soya village," said Braksan. (Mochtar Touwe - Tempo News
