Begun serving the king from 1606 and did so for forty years in the Spanish Navies of the Indies. During this time he made twenty seven trips of the Peninsula to America. In his body could be seen the scars of twenty cuts and wounds from both weapons and fires, having administered to him up to five times, and on so many other occasions, the Last Sacraments, because of the gravity of his state as a result of the blows he received in combats.
In 1650, King Don Felipe IV conferred upon him the titles of Viscount of Ursúa and Count of Gerena in appreciation of his ancestors and the very illustrious and long standing House, Palace of Cabo de Armeria.
