3. Miguel Sánchez de Ursúa y Rosajaraya .

Señor de Ursúa. Baron of Oticoren and Ricohombre of Navarra.

Served King Don Carlos II (reigned 1349-1387) in the King's many wars with his own army which he raised and maintained himself and was rewarded by the King with favours among them the vegetable & herb fields of Baztan as prize in a Royal decree as shown in the Archives of Comptos in the year 1359. Miguel Sanchez formed part of that brilliant group of Navarresse and Gascon warriors that carried out extraordinary feats against the united enemies and were often left to its own forces in enemy territory and distant countries and in defense of the provinces that rightly belonged to their brave Sovereign. In 1363 the same King granted him the paternal inheritance of the village of Cortes.Also in 1363, the King gave him the Bailío of Baztan and commanded that he be paid his allowance which has fallen behind.In 1369 the King himself granted Miguel Sanchez the village of San Juan de Pie de Puerto and as Mayor and Governor of the castle.
