Michelle Akers will forever be known as one of the best women to ever play on the USWNT. She finished her career with 105 career goals.  She also played in the second-ever USWNT game on August 21, 1985 where she scored the first ever goal in the history of the USWNT.   In the 1999 WWC , while battlin Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, she was awarded the Bronze Ball, as she was the third most valuable player in the tournament.  Although leaving the final game early, she pulled herself to get to the side-lines to watch the PK's, and see her team win their second WWC title!
