My Musical Interests...
My first bass guitar was an electric 5-string, Yamaha RBX765A.  Joy actually got it for my early Christmas/Birthday present in 1997.  It is so sweet.  The action, the translucent green coloring, and the overall feel make it a dream to play.  It's got an alder body with an ash veneer, a maple neck with rosewood fretboard, and an electronics package of 2 active humbucker pickups.  This one plays great and will be with me for a long time!
After arriving in San Antonio, I picked up a new toy.  I had wanted to expand my horizons and dabble in the acoustic scene.  So, I splurged on an acoustic-electric 4-string Fender BG-29.  The soft, warm tones and easy action make it hard for me to put this down.  It's got a natural, satin finish (not the black as shown here) with a spruce top, and mahogony back and sides.  A rosewood fretboard and a great Fishman Acoustic Matrix electronics package really top this off.  Now I have a portable bass without having to haul a 50 pound amp everywhere.  I took this to ABC with me to practice and found that several other students had brought their 6-string acoustics.  Indeed, there were many acoustic jam sessions after classes and on weekends!
I added my dream set to my inventory in March '01.  It's a black 8-piece Pearl fusion kit on a rack with Zildjian cymbals all around.  A couple LP cowbells and JamBlocks complete this beauty.  It consists of:
8",  10",  12",  14" toms
16" and 18" floor toms
18" x  22" bass
14" x   5" snare
13" A-Custom Mastersound hi-hats
10",  16",  17"  A-Custom crashes
18" K-Crash, 20" K-Custom flat ride
6" Zil-bel,  18" China
