This manga is about a girl named Miaka who opens a book named The Four Gods of Heaven and Earth. She and her friend Yui gets transported to another world. Although they managed to make it back to their own world, circumstances force them to enter the world inside the book
again. In order for Maika to go home, she must become the priestess of Suzaku, gather the seven senshi constellation and summon the god to grant her wish. She meets up with strange people and falls for one of the 7 senshi of Suzaku. Her job isn't any easy either because other kingdoms, namely sieryuu, are also gathering in order to be granted their god's three wishes and therefore rule the four kingdoms. In the end, Yui gets caught between trying to rescue Maika from the book and becoming part of the story herself. Yui ends up betraying Maika and goes over to become the priestess of Sieryuu and also going after Tamahome as well.

I like this story very much. It contemplates the meaning of life and love. Since this manga is made up of 18 volumes, there was many parts that I missed. The drawings improve as the series go on and the story line shows true friendship and love for all their friends,
even those that have passed on. Also, the undying love between Miaka and Tamahome is reincarnated to Miaka and Taka. Miaka is very lucky to have everyone care for her so much.
One part that I'm slightly against is that the mangaka actually kills off important characters. Real death... of course they get reincarnated but still... it seems sorta ruthless to do that to the Suzaku senshis...
