GLASS NO KODO

Okay, in chinese, the name of this manga is "glass angel's heart". Nice, right? Well, this is one of the earlier works of Ueda and not many people heard of it. I can't find any webpages on it!! Therefore, I can't exactly tell you the whole gist of it.

This manga is about the race track. Unfortunately I have only one out of the four volume series. It's funny and interesting because there is a twist to the story... One day, a girl is late to take her entrance exam to high school. As she is rushing, her shoe buckle breaks and she trips and her exam ticket flies onto the road. Just as she is yelling at the oncoming car to stop, a shadow passed right in front of her. This guy running real fast, grabs the ticket and jumps back into safety as the driver curses him for his foolishness. The guy returns the ticket to the shocked girl and gave up his own shoelace to repair the broken shoe. He had read the name of the girl off the ticket and discovered that she was coming to his school. As he leaves, he waves back at her and says " see you in the spring".

Okay, so she actually gets into the high school along with her old childhood friend " juk son". She is quirte eager to see that guy who saved her ticket again so that she can return the shoelace. Turns out this guy is on the track team. And after a chance meeting again, where the main character accidentally hits him, the guy notices that she has a knack for running and so told her to also join. And so, in order to be closer to her upperclassman, she joins despite the fact that she dislikes to run. Yeah, yeah, the same freaking tale, right? But... the story is funny beacuse the girl knows she is no shoein due to the fact that "Red Tein", the track star upper classman she has a crush on, has already got a wonderful girlfriend and so she aims to just race better and then confess her feelings to him at the next meet.

Another guy in her class helps her out as well as her overprotective childhood friend. Both of them are also on the track team and one of them idolizes " Red Tein" while her childhood friend sees him as the devil. There's no denying that "Red Tein" has a knack for track, though. He has managed to break several records...

Personal Thoughts:
This one's good. Too bad don't know much else about the plot... Drawn nicely and the silliness of the storyline draws you in and you sorta relate to the main character and I felt sorry for her... but when the track star offered to take her on as a second girlfriend... isn't that double timing? But it was sweet in an innocent sort of way. Especially when the main character is so damn happy about it.
