Tenkou no Escaflowne
The Vision of Escaflowne is a tale where a young girl named Kanzaki Hitomi gets transported to another world. She was about to express her feelings to her classmate, Amano, when a dragon like creature appears with a boy in tow. As both Hitomi and Amano run from the site, the boy manages to slay the dragon with his sword and take out an energist, he promptly gets sucked up into the sky, and for some reason, so does Hitomi! What's happening?
Van is now traveling around to warn other provinces of this danger and hopefully even take revenge upon his kingdom. They come upon Allan, the captain of a flying ship and who has a sad past of his own. Hitomi finds herself able to predict the future with her pendant and as they make towads the floating city which is the enemies head quaters. Slowly a love triangle develops between Van, Allan, and Hitomi. But Van has a very possessive cat-girl while Allan has a princess. But all is not what things turn out to be. Secrets and hidden truths abound in this anime and the more I tell, the more I'll be giving away...
My Bias Opinions: I really enjoyed this anime! It had all the classic elements that made up a good, captivating story. Medieval times, young kings, handsome knights, beautiful princesses, a bratty pest, sorcery, fortune-telling, love story, family relationships and immortality. There are a lot of cool revelations and the whole anime captivates you. You WANT to know how this messed up tale ends and you feel sorry for deaths and even sympathize with the bad guy Dilandu and Folken. This anime was translated into English and had made a debut in American television on Fox Kids. Yet this show was never allowed to keep on running! I guess because the story was getting a little intense for little kids! Escaflowne is my all time favorite and the Japanese opening theme song sounds very good too. (UsagiSakura 10/10/03)
