Dear all, Thank you so much for participating the 2003 Taiwanese American Heritage Week celebration at Chan Auditorium today. Your devotion and particpation make today's program a big success. I am sure that you and your friends enjoy the Gang-A-Tsui Theater's nanguan and nanguan opera and have a wonderful time. The Gang-A-Tsui Troup's nanguan and nanguan opera performance is just perfect and we all should give all of them a big applause before go to bed tonight. There are so many people I want to give thanks. First I want to thank HTA Directors give me the fully support to go ahead for all the decisions along the whole process. I want to thank every one of you to care about Taiwan and show your great support by participating and inviting your American firends to join us. I want to thank Ms. Shing Ping of Gang-A-Tsui to send us 100 copies of program within 3 days after we have decided to host this event. The professional program gives us the confidence that this Gang-A-Tsui Troupe is a highly professional one and solve the common question of " Waht is nanguan and nanguan opera ?". The English and Chinese version of the program simply answer the big question even many still did not get it before the show. But at least they all agree we give them the complete information of nanguan and nanguan opera on the program. I want to thank Jeffrey for asking me the possibility of hosting such an event in March. I also want to thank him for inviting Council woman Mrs. Sandra Moon (head of Hunstville city council) to attend this special occassion and inviting international council's friends to join us. I want to thank the director of OCAC Mr. Ray Long Lin for making the arrangements with Gan-A-Tsui and encourage them to come after more than 3 weeks performance at various cities. I want to thank Direct Li-Chu Wang and Ms. Janet Chang, Ms. Jennifier of TECRO information devision for press release. They send the press release to both of Huntsville Time and World Journal news. They also calls sevral time to show their support and care about our 2003 Taiwanese American Heritage Week Gang-A-Tsui Theater event. I want to thanks Charles & Betty Chen for passing the Gang-A-Tsui package to me for our re-considerations after the other performing group's schedule conflict. I want to thank Dr. Huang and Dr. Lien of Nashville Taiwanese Association for promising to come to Hunstville to supporting us. I want to thank Dr. Dungtsa Chen and Mr. Kenny Chen for making the announce of this event to all their TAA-Birmingham members. Thanks Dr. Kang-Jey & Le-Hong and friends come to join us from Birmingham. I want to thank Robert Hsu to post our program at HCCC and announce the news to the congregations. I want to thank Mrs. Babara Liaw for the press release on World Journey news. I want thank Ms. Cil Spina and Dr. Paul Coward of UAH music department and UAH for co-sponsor this event. And we also thank them for providing the Roberts Recital Hall free of charge. Although we finally decided to give up the Recital Hall due to the more than 400 people asking for tickets and the sounding system special arrangements. The UAH's co-sponor and generously providing the Recital Hall gives us a very good start. I want to thnak Dr. Frank Yang for suggesting us to ask NPR 89.3 for Art & Music event announcement. It helps a lot. I want to thank Anita for helping to submit the music event announcement to Huntsville Times. I want to thank Ken Shih nad HCCC for letting us borrow their microphone system, although we finally decided to rent Chan Auditorium's sounding and lighting system. I want to thank Gary Cheng for strongly suggesting us to provding the microphone and sounding system although it cost a lot. It proves that Gary is right ! Thanks Dr. Yao Huang & Evelyn Chuang donate $150 in our picnic to contribute to this TAHW nanguan and nanguan opera event. I want to think Dr. Lu Young Shiang for sending us the Chinese powerpoint file from New Orland although the version Gang-A-Tsui brouhgt with them to us is the perfect version with both English and Chinese Captions. That makes us think that the English caption will be crucial to the American friends to enjoy the Dao-Hua and Boatman. Lanny Chen spent 7 hours during the midnight to providing the English captions while we still lack of the English powerpoint file yet. Although we learn yesterday morning that Gang-A-Tsui already have a perfect version of captions with them, Lanny and Yen-Sen's vision, devotion and serious about making this event a big success make me really touched. I want to thank Dr. Wen-Fa Tseng and Professor Liu for coordinating the schedule and arrangements early on. I want to thank Mrs. Susan Shu Ling Tsend, Dr. Wen-Fa Tseng, and Dr. James Tseng for calling and emailing me to confirm that Gang-A-Tsui has the both Chinese and English captions and pass me some of their experience and tips for the events It helps a lot too. We feel comfortable that American friends will be able to really enjoy the performance and have fun with us. I want to thank Yen-Sen for designing such a wonderful tickets. This is a big hit. Without the formal tickets, there will not be so many Amerian friends as well as general public to come. Without the tickets, we will not able to estimate the head-count and that can be a big mess because we will probably stay at Recital Hall and endup many people come without seats. Director Chou of Gang-A-Tsui told me that our tickets are the most attractive and professional tickets he saw in all the 3 weeks of performance at various cities. Thanks Yen-Sen, you deserve a big applause ! Thank Dr. H.I Lu for designing and providing the banner. It makes our American friends know that we are Taiwanese Americans and this is the occasion to celebrate TAHW. Thank Eva, Vivian, and Ellen for making those 3 beautiful posters for directions and also stay at Roberts Recital Hall to help bring some guests from Recital Hall to Chan Auditorium. Thank Evelyn Lu, Eva, Vivian a, and Ellen to serve as usher. Thank C.T. Chi and Charles for all the wonderful pictures. Thank Betty for selling the picures with program for Gang-A-Tsui Troupe. Thank C.T., Susan, Yen-Sen, Lanny, Charles, Betty, Director Lin and Jeffrey for picking them up from the airport. Thank Yen-Sen and Lanny for entertain them at your house for a hour, that makes them feel so comfortable after a long fly. Gang-A-Tsui Troup group have to go to airport by 4:00AM this morning ! I don't think anyone of you can tell that they are tired. Their performance is just perfect ! If you were there, you know what I mean ! The lunch and banquet are just great ! Again, Yen-Sen. Good job. Thank Yen-Sen and C.T. for the well designed plate and frames with their performance pictures. I am pretty sure that they will love it when they receive those plate, frame and pictures. I also want to thank CT and Boshou Chen for the camcorder video. This will be very good gift to them too. I will mail a copy to Gang-A-Tsui Theater in Taiwan and show our appreciations. Last, but not the least, we are so fortunate to have Lanny to be the Emcee, Master of the ceremony, of this program. I am proud to pick the right person to do the right job at the right occassion. Although I know that you ar very tired after the 7 hours of English caption translation and Herby's graduation, you are the best candidate to Emcee this important event. Job well done ! Let's all give Lanny a big applause ! Thanks again for all of your support and care. And please also say thanks to the friends you invited that the good audience make the artist and musicians do their best. Director Chou told us that we are the one with most audience for all the indoor shows in the past 3 and 1/2 weeks. We are the one with highest ratio of American and Taiwanese. We are also the one of those with the best satisfactions so far. Due to the tight schedule, we are not able to entertain them to any scenry site or even our Space Museum. Hope next year they can come to Huntsville again and we can take them to Space Museum, Ruby Falls, and Rocket City. Good night ! Peter, 5/24/03 11:58PM P.S.
