1st TSG (A) COMMENT: When you INSULATE a boot like the ICWB it will not ventilate heat and sweat as well as a non-insulated boot. A MOUNTAIN boot is needed for offensive movement that will be lightweight to conserve Soldier energy yet extremely rugged and gripping since hard, sharp rocks are unforgiving and uphill movement requires sure footing. A Cold WEATHER boot is not a MOUNTAIN boot. Had the 10th Mountain Division been located in...the....ehhhh....MOUNTAINS (Fort Carson, Colorado) instead of upstate New York (Fort Drum---a flat, cold WEATHER area) then the deficiencies of the ICWB and the need for a MOUNTAIN boot would have been evident sooner. Is it evident now?
