Our January meeting was held on the 24th of this month due to busy schedules and no heat in the HUT last week. Thanks to those who attended. We discussed the Farewell Gift Plaque. Dan Singh will bring in an example of the plaque at February's meeting. Written guidance has been sent out to EXCOM members for their recommendations and approval. The approved procedures will be introduced to the membership during February's meeting.
Chapter President Greg Gouty had the opportunity to update the membership with the minutes from the Annual Meeting of Members held this past October in San Antonio, Texas . The minutes are on the USAWOA web site and we have a printed copy of the minutes at the HUT. If you haven't had the opportunity to attend the AMM or ever read the minutes from one, it is actually a lot of fun and interesting.
Greg Gouty spoke about the Heritage Foundation and the Scholarship Foundation. Both of which I personally feel are extremely important to our Corps. Greg has asked the membership to vote on and approve a donation of $250.00 to the Heritage Foundation after the financial report is read at February's meeting. Donations at this time are going towards building a Memorial to Fallen Warrant Officers. Scholarship Application Packets are being accepted between 1 January and 1 May 2008. If you are interested, apply now. Detailed information about both of these foundations can be read on the USAWOA web site.
Greg Gouty informed the membership about the following donations made by the Chapter:
A $2500.00 check was given to the Post Chaplain (CTOF) during the month of December. This donation was made possible by a retired warrant officer and his wife who wanted to give something back to the military community, and remain anonymous. This is two years in a row that this has happened. In November a donation of $25.00 was given to the MCOWC to support their Basket Bingo and a donation of $89.00 was given to the MCOWC in support of APG's 90th year celebration.
Greg Gouty read a thank you letter from the Community of Love Lutheran Church for the tables we donated to them last year in October.
Larry Giles spoke about coordinating a trip to the VA and to Walter Reed in the upcoming months. More to follow about this great opportunity to help our wounded warriors.
We look forward to seeing you at next months meeting. February the 21st, 1145 at the HUT.
Kurt Schultz has done a great job on our web site folks. If you have any ideas for the site please provide input.
