Langley (CV-1)

Although it was built as the collier Jupiter in 1913, she was converted to the USN's first aircraft carrier, as the USS Langley. Langley was the only commissioned American fleet carrier that lacked an "island" on the flight deck. She would serve as an aircraft carrier until 1937 when part of her flight deck was removed and she was used as a seaplane tender until her loss in 1942.
