Brandon Benavides is a native Texan born and raised in San Antonio. Close friends describe him as a confident fire ball of energy. He enjoys helping people and making a difference in his community. This 21 year old is a junior attending St. Edward's University majoring in Communications. He has a column in the Hilltop Views School paper. Brandon's goal is to become a news broadcaster. He enjoys communicating.
This young man is no stranger to the Rotary International family with seven years of service. Brandon's service began when he joined the Interact Club of Business Careers High School his freshman year. Through out his four years in Interact he serviced his club as Communications Director, Vice-President, International Kid's Fair and Leadership Conference Director. Brandon attended several conferences including: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), International Student Congress (Youth Exchange), and Leadership Conferences.
While at St. Edward's University, Brandon has serviced as President for two years, and currently is the District Rotaract Representative and USCC 2002 Conference Director. The USCC 2002 Conference will be his dream come true. Brandon's dream to host a national conference was envisioned his freshman year while attending USCC 2000 "Cruise into the Future" in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. He actively discussed the rewards and advantages of hosting a conference. Sophomore year, Brandon lead his club in rounding up all the Texas Rotaract Clubs for a meeting. He was a member of the Rotaract Pre-Convention Hospitality Committee and attended the Rotary International conference in San Antonio. He along with a couple of members went to Washington, D.C. in order to bid for USCC 2002.
Throughout all his efforts, Brandon gives selflessly and truly enjoys what he does: Make Contact.
