Bio. of Sam Zafran

I Joined the New York state guard.  Was activated and sent overseas. When
my unit broke up I went to Marburg Reppledepot. While there I did the No No and volunteered when this guy in the funny helmet liner told us we could be like state troopers in germany.
I was assigned to E Trp 13th Constabulary at the start, later re-designated A Troop 12th squadron and then to A Troop 10th Squadron in Fritzlar. Reassigned from there to Hq 1st Constab Brigade Camp Peri.  Returned to the states, Assigned to I&R platoon 14th Infantry Camp Carson.Back to Germany, Berlin 1950 759th MP Bn Transferred back to 1st Constabulary Brigade and served till 1951, reassigned to 4th Sig Co 4th Inf Div Frankfurt Germany.
Returned State side 1953. Assigned 278th Regt Combat team Camp Drum NY. Back to Germany 1953.
Assigned to 1st Recon Co 1st Inf Div Kitizen Germany.  Participated in Operation Gyroscope and was reassigned to Sig Plat Hq 1st Armed Div. Kitizgen National Guard in Camp Drum while there was reassigned back to germany 1957. Joined up with the 867th FA (280 Gun Heavy Lifting.) till 1960.

Married my BEAUTIFUL Wife Dorothea Nov 58.
Arrived Ft Riley Kansas 1960 to the 1ST Sig CO 1st Inf Div.Served till reassigned to Hq Btry 5th Arty (8inch towed and Honest John)From there went to USAG Ft Riley. Worked the 5th Army Radio Station also Ran the Commanding Generals Mobile PA SET. Participated in The Eisenhower Funeral, Stamp and coin and library Dedications. The Truman Funeral and LBJ Funeral.Departed Ft Riley 1967 for RVN with A Co 13th Signal Bn 1st Air Cav (Garry Owen) Returned to Ft Riley to the Sig Co 24th Infantry Division.1968.Served at FT Riley till 1973 and Retired.  Worked for Post Signal till contracted out. Installed Post Wide TV System And installed TV's, Paging systems, intercoms, JSIIDS in Arms rooms and related Electronic Devices.
Retired out in 1994 and am presently employed 7 days a week doing Honeydos.
