Our annual golf tournament ,in partnership with Port City Lions Club, has been postponed. A variety of circumstances have lead both our clubs to reschedule the tournament so that we can maximize the the time needed to contact sponsors. A committee comprised of both clubs will narrow the choice of dates to either mid November or mid February. Please check back for the new dates. All clubs are invited to submit teams and/or potential sponsors. We all here at Chatham South have a great time playing host to all attendees!
Prospects are good that we will be joining several other local charities to help the Parisian store at Savannah Mall with their pre Christmas private sale day. Chatham South members assisted sales personnel at a similar event prior to Easter. We hope to have more shoppers take advantage of the savings as well as help in our many sight related projects.
We will also be selecting a needy family as our Christmas project. All our members are invited to help in selecting, wrapping and delivering gifts and food stuffs to folks in Savannah that are really in dire need. There is always joy in giving , especially to those who may lack even the barest of necessities.
The new year will also see the club participating in the statewide charitable drive known a white cane day. Last year a local business granted our club a space to solicit contributions. We had been "staking out" a corner of Abercorn Street to approach drivers. This seemed a bit hazardous getting in traffic on a Saturday! This year we will be seeking a different venue as the local business changed it's policy. In any case, look for us and all Georgia Lions in April, we'll work something out! The Georgia Lighthouse is in real need of all our help.
