New Meeting Location The Chatham South Lions Club has held its last two meetings at Barnes, located at 10201 Abercorn St. The restaurant accomodated us with a private room at no cost to the Club. At the August 22, 2000 meeting, the membership voted to use Barnes as our official meeting place for all regular meetings. It was further agreed that we would set a limit of $10.00 per member meal, including drink and let the Tail Twister collect fines to cover the tax and tip. This worked well at the last meeting. Everyone was comfortable and the food was excellent. We also have a quieter enviornment, where we can feel comfortable inviting guest speakers. Please join us at our next meeting scheduled for September 12, 2000 and see for yourself!
Chatham South to Host Zone Meeting Our Club will be hosting the November 15, 2000 Zone Meeting. Representatives from all Clubs in our Zone will be invited to attend. Our President, Lion Leann Grefski is making arrangements to meet with Paul Ganem, to discuss using the Rebel Room for this event. Keep this date open on your calendar.
Golf Tournament Postponed The Johnny Ganem Memorial Golf Tournament, originally scheduled for September 18, is being postponed tentatively to February. This will be a joint venture with Port CityLions Club and more time was needed to attract new businesses and players to participate. The Tournament Committee, Lion Paul Ganem, Lion Jack Heery, and Lion John Lichtner would welcome any help you can provide. If you know of possible sponsors, please pass their names on to the committee.
Local News We are pleased to report that Lion Paul Ganem’s hip surgery was a successs. We were delighted to see him at our last meeting. September birthdays include Betty Heery, Sept.7, Monica Manocha, Sept. 2 and Tommy Vogler, Sept. 3. Our next scheduled meeting will be September 12th at Barnes. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Matthews from Eye Glass World. Come Join Us! |
