Brief History

The island is a fantasy setting strongly styled on medieval Britain. Robin Hood etc

The island was originally settled by wild elves from the continent leaving behind the wars and intrigue of there Homelands. They lived on there until humans discovered the island. The elf’s moved to the smaller islands to The north leaving those of the people who wanted to live with the humans. They remain on good terms even till today.

The humans that Settled Salakriss were from two different countries on the mainland each building keeps and laying claim to island in their countries name. There were many small battles and skirmishes until two leading nobles decided to marry their children thereby uniting the islanders and ending the conflict. As soon a the peace was settled they promptly declared the island it's own nation. Since it's early days the island has enjoyed a mostly peaceful existence. They have kept good relations with their parent countries and have kept the local monsters and bandits isolated in the hills and mountains. The king has recently mobilised the people for war. he himself is leading an army from Salakriss to the continent to help the armies of their allies against an empire that has swept across from the east. Rumours of spy’s monsters dark rights and the evil fate that awaits those captured already spread through the island. And perhaps more worryingly the nobles grumble unhappily about the Kings brother ruling in his absence.

Locations

Caervelle: The capital of Salakriss home of the island's Central church and seat of the Kings. The city is also the central market where goods are bought and sold before being shipped to the port or brought to the keeps.

Caer Connig: In the southwest of the island is a large a well-built keep. This area was almost empty of any habitation due to the Trolls and other creatures that haunt the mountains of the land. The land was gifted to the famous knight and Troll slayer Lord Eferam Keller on the advent of his marriage to the kings (Mathew II) sister.

Caer Herran: In the south the keep stands on the shore of lake Herran. This is one of the first keep built on the island.

Caer Carmath: This keep was built across the mouth of the great glen and stand to the west of Caervelle.

Caer Denigh: Built in the Barakesh mountains of the northwest the keep sits above the mines that it guards. This is where the bulk of the mineral wealth of the kingdom is found. Although this keep is in a hostile and cold land it is one of the most comfortable and well-appointed keeps.

Caer Errod: This is one of the original keeps and was set to watch the lowlands of the north.

Caer Andris: The keep looks across the wide lowlands of the southeast. This region is completely free of the ancient forest that covers the rest of the island.

Caer Nevron: In the Northeast. It is set upon a rock that sits in the midst of the entrance to the harbour at Haven. This keep is both prosperous and well defended. The walls are mounted with many ballistae and catapult to ward off unfriendly ships.

Castle Salakriss: This is a huge octagonal wall housing the inner keep. Within the wall are store and barracks. Within the castle itself are the council chambers the private quarters of the royal family and their private gardens.

Caervelle Cathedral: This massive structure lies to the south of Castle Salakriss. It is a huge gothic cathedral dedicated to Gothyr.

University: The buildings that makeup the university grounds are built near the cathedral. The university is staffed by clerics of the church and is funded by the noble families of the kingdom.

Elvenhome: This is the only permanent elven settlement on the island. Here the elven people have homes both on the ground and in the trees. Although there are croplands nearby neither the settlement nor their farms have roads or paths leading to them.
