Description
This lab I designed and built a system that stacks boxes on a pallet, then checks
the height of the boxes on the pallet. It keeps stacking until it gets to a
certain height, When the desired height is reached it sends a pneumatic cylinder to move the pallet out of
the way or on to a conveyor belt.
Method
I used the Robotalk for windows programming software to program a routine for
the Rhino XR-3 robot system to follow. Then I interfaced external fiber optic
sensors to detect box locations. I then interfaced various external outputs
devices to act as an operating warning system. I also added a solenoid
directional control valve to control a double action pneumatic cylinder. The
pneumatic cylinder is used to push the pallet.

Summary
This lab was really educational I learned how to interface to a controller and
how to program a device. I also learned how to troubleshoot some problems I ran
into while hooking up inputs and outputs to the controller and how to correct
program bugs.
