Many questions have been raised about the risks associated with exposure to certain levels of arsenic. Recent news reports have featured stories about the dangers of arsenic contained in some treated lumber, as well as in drinking water. One major issue is the effects of arsenic contamination, especially that of water, on people in Bangladesh, mainly women. Women seem to be most at risk of being affected by arsenic contaminated waters since they often cook, wash clothes, and bathe in the water and as a result are most frequently exposed to the water and its pollutants. This page was designed to provide informative links to other pages addressing the issue of arsenic contamination and it's affects on women in Bangladesh and in their daily environment. |
