Jefferson is inaugurated president for a second term.
March 12- John Piclcering is first Federal Judge to be impeached.
Jefferson sends Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore new territory. They left in May, with 25 skilled men with them. They left from camp outside St. Louis and made it all the way to the Pacific Ocean. On the way, they stopped and picked up French-Canadian interpreter named Toussaint Charbonneau and his Shosone wife, Sacajawea to help with translations. Lewis and Clark made it back to St. Louis on Sept. 23, 1806.
12th Amendment adopted to the constitution.
Vice president, Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton in a duel, in New Jersey on July 11. Hamilton died the next day.
