This page is very essential page if you need to understand the real Sappho. I never knew that the Christian Church was responsible for destroying a lot of Greek and Roman Literature. The Church destroyed many of Sappho's poems because they were contradictary to the Church's philosophy about homosexuality. We've lost so much literature and art by the hands of religious extremists. This page also stresses that Sappho was NOT a lesbian because there is concrete evidence of that claim. But there is evidence that Sappho was heterosexual because she had a daughter, and I don't think that the Greeks had the technology of arificial insemination.

Lesbian.org is trying to make a traveling exhibit of Sappho. Its interesting that people like to think of Sappho as a lesbian, even though we don't have any concrete evidence. Though we do have concrete evidence of her being a heterosexual-her daughter.

I couldn't stop laughing when I came across this page. The page is a ran by a group of "bi, lesbian, tranny, butch, femme, dyke, questioning, nonlabelling, friends and supporters" who get together online to support eachother. As I said before, WE DONT HAVE ANY CONCRETE EVIDENCE OF SAPPHO BEING GAY. Then why do people misinterpret history?

This is a very interesting page about the relationship between Catullus and Sappho. The page points out that Catullus was influenced by Sappho's poems because he refers to her many times. I also think that Catullus was influenced by Sappho because both had similar writing styles.
