| On the Ohio river there are many places to fish from the shore. These are two of my fovorite. Under the WestEnd Bridge. Why? I always catch fish here! This site is difficult to acces if you don't know your way around Pittsburgh. Drive North on Carson street from Station Square, (Note: if you come the other way from the Mckees rocks you will have to pass it then turn around!) do not go across the bridge, but through the underpass. SLOW DOWN HERE, you will turn just pass a lumber company, and on the right side is a place to park. Be sure to respect the property, I'm not sure if they own it but I've parked there and haven'thad any problems. You will see the Railroad tracks, there are several spots along them, But directly under the bridge is my favorite spot. There is a nice drop off there. I catch Bass, walleye, muskey, catfish and huge carp..lol lots of fun! Be sure to take your trash with you when you leave, and dont light any fires, it's against the law in the city limits, and lol you are by a lumber co. |
| From Station Square and past the West end bridge, there is another place that is cool. (well there are alot of really cool places in Mckees rock.) When you first get to the end of Carson St. there is a railroad bridge, under it is Chartiers Creek. Find a place to park and have fun! The mouth of the creek flows into the Ohio river. It's great fishing. If you follow that road across the small bridge there are more places to fish! This is called the bottoms. It will lead you under the Mckee's Rocks Bridge. But if you are going acroos the bridge you can take the Helen St Exit, it will take you to the Bottoms also. |
