Hall of Fame Ceremony

The Hall of Fame Induction was announced following the reading of marks for the last ice dance team. A good crowd stayed around for the affair despite the growing lateness of the hour.

The first achievements recognized were those of Wally and Norma Sahlin. They announced the Sahlins accomplishments and titles. They listed Charles Tickner and Jill Trenary as having been their students. The award was accepted by Norma Sahlin.

The next honorees were Jill Watson and Peter Oppegard, pair skaters of the 1980's. They were announced as the 1987 Worlds and 1988 Olympics bronze medallists. I had forgotten what they looked like. But, they both looked young and happy. Inoue and Baldwin were listed as her students, so it must have been a double victory tonight with the induction and victory in pairs.

Hugh Graham was also recognized as a National, World, and Olympic skating judge.

The final inductee and seemingly crux of the evening was Nancy Kerrigan. She came out, waved, and smiled to the long applause and cheers. They listed her competitive accomplishments - 1993 National champion, 1992 Olympic bronze medallist, 1992 Worlds and 1994 Olympic silver medallist, as well as her role in the Grease On Ice production and skating in Champions on Ice tours. They mentioned the books she has written. They also mentioned her husband Jerry and seven-year-old son Matthew.

After all the resumes were read, the inductees posed together so the photographers could take pictures.
