Junior Ladies Free Program

After a look at the junior ladies and having seen novice ladies earlier in the week, ladies is the one skating discipline Americans can have some comfort level. Even when the top, final group skaters move on, there will still be strong ladies skaters waiting in the wings. There are ladies who can show some grace, style, and musicality and some triples, too. Too bad some of the more graceful ladies single skaters cannot be coaxed totally into the pairs discipline. Is it true that all U.S. ladies have nice layback positions with the back well-extended, arms intricate, and, most of all, the attitude position of the free leg? I am a believer. In fact, the least picturesque layback spin I saw during Nationals week was that of Amber Corwin. It lacked some of the turnout and music box ballerina quality.

So, are they all ballerinas? No. Actually, the junior ladies presented a variety of skating styles from athletic to the more dainty. And, they all have time to develop, but at present are quite interesting and good.

They rolled out the accessories for the Junior Ladies medal ceremony immediately following. The girls seemed to have a comradery. They waited for each other to get in line for the victory lap by placements with the winner leading the way.

It was easy to see the top two placements. Both pulled off several triples, and they had well developing styles. They seem to be showing some consistency at a young age. Look for them on the senior scene next year.
