Novice Ladies Free Program Practice

Novice Ladies Free Skate Group A:

Juliana Cannarozzo - beige skating dress, white sweater, white gloves
She started with a spin combination with a variety of innovative positions. During her run-through, she did a combination spin that included a brief layback position. She fell on the loop jump. She then did a layback spin with a high free leg position. She did a triple loop-single combination where the triple loop appeared slightly two-footed. She did a double lutz. She executed an ina bauer, then a sit spin into the finishing pose. Also during the session, she did straight line footwork with lunges, hops and varied arm movements.

Molly Oberstar
Her distinguishing feature is great flexibility. She did a very nice biellmann spin, which was well-extended.

Novice Ladies Free Skate Group B:

Crystal Shum - sky blue dress with sheer midriff, white sweater
She did a spin combination of camel to sit. She had a huge double axel with nice height and distance. She executed a spiral with good extension. She did a crossed leg scratch spin. For her run-through, she fell on the double axel. She executed a charlotte into a jump. She did the camel to sit spin and a double axel. She did a layback to sit to crossed leg scratch spin combination. Her final move was a flying camel into the finishing pose. Watch her because she is very advanced presentation-wise and demonstrated a mature line in her positions. She also had nice flow on her jump landings.

Jessica Lee - dark maroon dress
She did a triple-double jump combination. She executed a layback spin. She also did a biellmann to sit to scratch spin combination. She did a double lutz and double lutz in combination with other double jumps. She has energetic in-betweens and footwork sequences. She had noticeably great speed.

Katrina Hacker - blue dress
She did a camel spin to donut spin. She had good stretch in the eggbeater spin. Her presentation style is very smooth and gentle. She hit very nice and graceful positions in her moves.

I saw Coach Audrey Weisiger. Also, while watching the ladies practices, I saw Stephen Carriere, Steven Elefante and Lenny Raney. Lenny was helping me identify the novice ladies on the ice with the printout list of participants by practice group that I had in my notebook. He's a nice kid.

The zamboni entered the ice surface even before the last two girls had left the practice ice. They weren't wasting any time getting ready for the little league hockey players that were entering through the doors by the bleacher area.
