Novice Pairs Short Program

Before I go on, I must say this. Latin rules! Latin is in. Latin kicks butt, and Latin rocks. This is The Year of the Latin. And, any program that is not Latin is so back in the way day and out of style. Okay, okay, so that's my way of saying that I've never seen (live or on TV) so many Latin and Spanish themed programs in one year in all my life. And, there's not even a Latin prescribed rhythm for the original dances. And, Latin is in for novice, junior, and senior levels, nationally and internationally. All it takes is an initial viewing of a red and black costume, and I know what is going to happen next. And, sometimes they sneak up on you in an orange, maroon or yellow or different colored costume. But, the opening chords of the music give the answer all the same: This is a Latin program, and Latin is the way to go this year. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. For, there are several really great Latin programs this year that I quite enjoy. I think Latin music is edgy and fun. But, I'm just curious, did all but 10 or so skaters get a memo for their music choice that said, Go Latin.

The announcement was made again and before each discipline of the competition that it was closed judging and that the results would be posted after the event. The introduction of judges was made.

I predicted Vlassov and Meekins to win upon seeing the pair practice the previous day. But, that was mostly from looking at their competitive record and seeing the confidence that they had on the practice ice.
