Friday (18/05/2001) - An Emergency General Meeting (EGM) was held to vote on the constitution amendments at the Student Village Dining hall. These amendments were initially proposed in the 6th AGM March this year but voting did not commence due to the short notice given to the members.
About 32 members attended the EGM and a vote was held if the meeting constituted a quorum. A majority agreed that the members present constituted a quorum, which then would legitimize the constitution vote. Of the 32 present at voting, 27 voted for the constitutional amendments while the other 5 voted against it. Since more than a two-thirds majority was attained, the USQMSA Constitution was successfully amended. Details of the new constitution can be found in the constitution page.
The next item that was on the agenda was to elect a new Information Technology officer. The former IT Officer resigned in April this year due to personal reasons. Details of the new IT Officer are posted on the Executive Members Listing. When the formalities of the EGM were over and done with, a barbeque was held of which members enjoyed themselves. The guest of honour for that evening was no other than Mr Morry Lee, the Student Advocacy Officer over at the USQ Student Guild.
