History of
Upper Saddle River
Girl Scouting

Girl Scouting began in Upper Saddle River in the late 1970's.  At its formation in 1979 there was a total of 6 troops.  Today that number is over four times greater.  There are two-hundred and eighty registered Girl Scouts in twenty-eight different troops and sixty adults are participating in the leadership of these troops.
In 1989, our town began running townwide activities to provide girls with a chance to interact as a town, instead of as separate troops.  The first Silver Awards were received in 1989  as well, and the first Gold Awards were received in 1991.
