SD 90227.1530 Scene: Outside CINCGREEN's Office _______________________ As Aelyria passed Jokinen's secretary, she couldn't help but give her a smug smirk. This new assignment just felt too good for anything else. Aelyria could feel the secretary glancing daggers after her, but she didn't care. She was caught up with exuberance for the first time since ...before Armstrong Lunar Base. *Has it been that long?* she wondered briefly. It couldn't have been more than two weeks, but God, it felt like an eternity. Aelyria wondered how much she might have changed in that brief time. She resisted the urge to skip down the hall. She had her first assignment! The USS Chesapeake.... *Brand spankin' new! I wonder if it has that "new ship smell."* She chuckled to herself, a wide grin settling over her face. "Computer. Directions to the Shuttle Bay." <> [Ten minutes later, aboard the shuttle transport to the USS Chesapeake.] "Ensign Keyrin, we're ready for launch," came the pilot's voice. "Proceed," she said calmly. "Have we had any word from Chesapeake Captain Bell?" "None yet... wait." A pause. "Captain Bell requests you upload the BUPERS assignment data from your PADD to the shipboard computer for billet verification." "On it." Aelyria's finger's flew over the console, and soon the screen was rapidly scrolling through her assignment information. Within seconds, the upload was complete. "Transmission sent." There was another brief pause, and then Aelyria heard the muted crackle of commstatic. "We have permission to dock. Launching now." Aelyria settled herself firmly in her seat as the shuttle lurched slightly, building velocity. Her thoughts wandered to her fellow crewmates, whom she had yet to meet. She was unprepared for the jolt as the shuttle came to a final stop within the Chesapeake's shuttle bay. Her heart rate increased as the hatch began to swing open. Slinging her duffel over her shoulder, she moved to stand behind it as the view of the ship's interior slowly opened before her. A man stood a few meters away, looking expectantly at her. Aelyria said a brief prayer that this was the man she was supposed to report to, met his gaze, and said crisply, "Ensign Aelyria Keyrin requesting permission to come aboard." __________________ NRPG: I'm guessing I report to the XO, Daniel Brennan, instead of the Captain? (That is, BTW, the man greeting Keyrin at the end of the post.) I'm also sending all a copy of my bio. Very happy to be here! Show me the ropes and the new CSO'll get settled and start doing that CSO thang ASAP. *big grin* Respectfully submitted, Lynnaea AelCaymarth, aka Ensign Aelyria Keyrin CSO, USS CHESAPEAKE ___________________ rneces@mastnet.net
