SD 90228.1250 MD 1.1545 Scene: CSO's Office ____________________ Ensign Aelyria Keyrin gazed calmly at the pale and worn woman sitting before her, Lieutenant Anne Murray. *This woman is a basketcase. Pure and simple. Oh, ye gods, these abstract scientific types...* Aelyria settled herself at her desk, motioned for her assistant to have a seat beside her, and said, "Now. What's say you tell me everything that just happened?" [Ten minutes later.] Keyrin leaned back in her chair, chewing her lip thoughtfully. "Well, Lieutenant, quite frankly, I don't think you should be all that upset -- not with your own actions, at any rate." Murray was shocked. "But --- but I injured someone, and -" Aelyria leaned forward on her desk, a quite serious expression on her face. "We all knew when we enlisted in Starfleet that it was a military career that posed physical hazards. Considering the man's combat training, he should take it as a sign that he needs to brush up on his reflex reactions. "And," she added, her voice turning conspiratorial and a small smile crossing her face, "if my staff did the same thing, I'd have reacted just as you did. God forbid that should ever happen in *security*, mind you." She waggled a finger. Assistant Derek looked very satisfied. "What next?" he asked. Aelyria sighed, looking out the window at the starbase below, and considered. "Once you consider the oxygen dispenser to be repaired and everything to be put back into ... some semblance of order," she said wryly, "please call me and I'll have my team inspect the lab to make sure there are no other security risks on the ship. And Lt. Murray -- you might want to take this opportunity to go over the established emergency protocols in your department and hammer them into those young minds a bit more." She chuckled. Anne still looked perplexed, and Aelyria felt the stirrings of compassion. *We're all so stressed, trying to get this ship running. Some R&R would do this one some good.* Her voice softened. "Lieutenant. You've had a rough day. Why don't you go back to your quarters, shower, and get a bite to eat? Discuss things further with your assistant and let *him* get the lab back into order. If you still feel guilty about Kirko, then check on him in sickbay and have a talk with the counselor when he reports in." Relieved, Murray smiled up at Aelyria, and Aelyria found herself smiling back. *Okay. So maybe she's a basketcase for a good reason.* She crossed around the desk and gestured to the door as Murray stood. "Keyrin to Torr. Whatcha up to?" <> "In my office, please, when you hit a break point. Keyrin out." Keyrin, Murray, and Derek discussed further details of getting the Science department running again until the door opened to reveal Torr. "Do me a favor, Torr, and please head down to the science lab with Derek here and do a quick security run-through? No leaks, no malfunctions, and..." Aelyria couldn't restrain herself. "...God knows, no hull damage, K?" Torr grinned back at her. "Yes sir." The two men vanished through the door. Aelyria turned to Murray. "Why don't I walk you down to your quarters. Deck Six? Great. Not too far from mine..." _______________ NRPG: Masako -- here ya go. *G* Murray's not such a bad sort as you make her out to be, I think. *wink* All: If Aelyria and [your PC's name here] haven't met yet, feel free to invent something to throw them together, or we'll meet at that dinner party later. *smile* Which should prove fun... Respectfully submitted, Lynnaea AelCaymarth, aka Ensign Aelyria Keyrin CSO, USS CHESAPEAKE ___________________ rneces@mastnet.net
