SD 90215 Scene: CINCGREEN's Office > Brennan was tired from his shuttle ride from the ADDISON, but he > knew the Admiral could not be kept waiting. He walked through the > doors into the office suite. > > The receptionist, a female Lieutenant, looked up from a pile of > PADDwork and smiled at him. He nodded acknowledgement. > > "Lieutenant Commander Daniel J. Brennan, to see the Admiral." The > first word was pronounced "Leftanant," out of habit. > > "Yes, sir." Her hand moved to the comm panel, but her eyes did > not move off of him. He started to feel rather uncomfortable > under her gaze. He walked toward the windows facing the docks, > many with ships connected to them. He first wondered whether one > of those ships was his next assignment, but soon his gaze, and his > thoughts, pointed beyond DELTA's docking bays and into the > infinite void. > > "The Admiral will see you now, Commander." > > The receptionist's voice brought his mind back into the office. > "Thank you, Lieutenant." > > He made a cursory check of his uniform in one of the the panels, > then walked up to the doors, which slid open to admit him. > > He entered, and found the Admiral standing by the window. Another > officer, a human female, sat in a chair in front of the desk. As > he came to attention, he managed to take in her four pips on her > collar. > > "Brennan, Daniel Justin, Lieutenant Commander, reporting as > ordered, sir." Vice Admiral Jokinen looked at the newcomer. "At ease. Captain, as you heard, this is Commander Brennan. Commander, this here is Captain Bell of the USS CHESAPEAKE." Bell stood up, and the two officers greeted each other, while Jokinen walked over to his desk, reaching into a drawer. His hand came out with a small black box. "I would like you to assist me in something, Captain," he said, and walked around the desk to stand in front of Brennan. "Lieutenant Commander, Daniel J. Brennan, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Full Commander, with all the duties and privileges thereof," Jokinen addressed Brennan, then bringing the box up and opening it. "Captain, if you would do the honors." Bell nodded, and took the full pip from the box. She turned to stand in front of Commander Brennan, and removed the half-pip from his collar, replacing it with the brand new full one. They shook hands. "Congratulations, Commander," she said, and stepped away. "Thank you, Captain." "Indeed, congratulations, Commander," Jokinen said, and again Brennan thanked. "Now, take a seat." Both officers sat down, and Jokinen walked back around his desk, sitting down himself. "I had just informed Captain Bell of her new ship," he said to Brennan. "The USS CHESAPEAKE, where you will be the Executive Officer." "The rest of the senior staff is as of yet unassigned, but most of the crew is onboard. We will get to your first mission at a later time, for now prepare for departure within a week. "I'm sure both of you would like to get to take a look at the ship, so I won't keep you any longer. You are dismissed." Respectfully Submitted, Jari Makela jarim@cc.tut.fi VADM Matti Jokinen CINCGREEN, SB DELTA http://www.cc.tut.fi/~jarim/green/ NRPG: Okay..
