Jokinen waited until th'Tellan had seated himself, before
continuing. "I am supposed to have a meal with a representative
of the Vulcan science counsil, so this will not take long."
th'Tellan nodded.
"As you know already, you are to be the OPS/2O of a new Hood
Class vessel, USS CHESAPEAKE. The CO is Captain Amanda Bell, and
the XO is Commander Daniel Brennan. Both of them have been
assigned, and should be aboard the ship, which in turn is docked
right here at DELTA. You may have seen it when you came in, next
to the TRAFALGAR. The third big ship in dock was the LEVIATHAN."
"Yes, sir," th'Tellan answered briefly, and Jokinen nodded.
"Here are your orders," the Admiral continued, pushing a PADD
across the desk. th'Tellan reached to pick it up. "Just get down
there and board the vessel. Welcome to Green Fleet. Let's hope
the ghosts of the past will not hinder your career." There was a
slight pause. "Dismissed, Commander."
th'Tellan stood up and after snapping into attention
ever-so-briefly, turned around and walked out. As he left the
office, the Admiral's secretary, Lieutenant Mary Driscoll cast a
longing glance at his passing form. She had a thing for Romulans.
Actually, she had a thing for anything with at least two legs,
but Romulans and Vulcans were an especially weak spot for her.
