SD 90410.2156 [Assistant Chief Science Officer's Personal Log, Star Date 90320.0855. The exit review exams begin in five minutes. Anne's been escorted to her quarters. I got called into the XO's office. You can say that it's been a pretty eventful day. I am just as glad, though, that this is out in the open, more or less. I never did agree with Karen's solution. And now... I just hope that Anne hasn't become unglued...] [Star Date 90320.1030. I can't believe I'm actually holding a department meeting behind Anne's back. It's almost insubordinate... but then, I can't discuss her if she's sitting right there. In any case, they'll be showing up in half an hour. I'd better program an alert system so Anne can't get into the department in the middle of our meeting...] [Star Date 90320.1200. The meeting went fairly well, I think. Sure, Karen put up a big fight about how *her* system should work because Anne *needed* someone pushing her, but (fortunately) Suvok and I were able to overrule her suggestions. The staff reacted with surprise, but most of them will be trying harder, I think, now that they know what's expected of them. I told the students to keep out of her way until they know *exactly* what they're doing, and they agreed rather quickly. Hmmm, maybe the distrust runs both ways...] [Star Date 1315. It's a good thing Anne came back after lunch; the Captain stopped by here just a while ago, and she and Anne were having some sort of discussion in her office. I just hope she didn't get into trouble for causing that scene on the Bridge today. Well... I'd better get back to analyzing those exit review exam scores...] [Star Date 1500. Anne's still in her office, so I guess I'll come back after I have a little coffee break. I wonder if I might get to talk with her sometime... I want to see how she's doing, but she's been so busy this afternoon that I haven't really had a chance...] [Star Date 1915. It's just like Anne to stick me with two hours of extra watch... but then, this is Science, not Security. I suppose I *could* turn in if I wanted to. I wonder why she doesn't want any interruptions... and I hope that she isn't in some kind of trrouble...] [Star Date 2300. Boy, am I sleepy. Just got a call from Anne saying she can be interrupted now. Fine time to tell me... I was asleep when she called. Well... at least she sounded halfway normal, as if I'd ever *known* her as a normal person. Anyway... it's really late. I'm going to get some shut-eye before tomorrow morning.] Respectfully submitted, Masako Goto Lt(jg) Derek Fielding aCSciO USS CHESAPEAKE NCC-31813 <> Okay, okay, I'm sorry... but you were going to wind up with a Fielding POV post anyway, and I figured you might prefer this format to a *long* and *tedious* recounting of the secret sci dept meeting, right? *Right*? Chris: How long Catherine actually stays is up to you; if she leaves before 2300, then Anne can always get wrapped up with something else until that time. If she doesn't leave until after 2300, we can assume that Anne remembered Derek. ::shrug:: Takako: Hmm, is this perceptive enough, do you think? Amy: No, Fielding wasn't eavesdropping... he just happened to see the Captain going into Anne's office. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thought for the day: Is it better to be over-prepared or under-prepared? -------------------------------------------------------------------------
