Shachor winced slightly, and kept his own counsel. There
were more comfortable ways of committing professional
suicide than suggesting that accepting outside mediation
over land disputes was too high a price to pay for Federation
membership. At least in a Starfleet officers' meeting.

"Captain, I'd like to speak with you -- and the Counselor --
about that last, when there's an opportunity." David was not
overly fond of the counselor's style and the last thing he wanted
was to put the particular proposal he had in mind before the
captain. But he had no choice. His discussion with Galia
Halivni had given him the beginnings of an idea for reclaiming
his company from their trauma, but it was risky... and even if
it worked, the results were likely to make Starfleet nervous as
a wet leopard, and about as angry. He had to clear it first. It was...
David shuddered a little. He had to. It was too similar, on a
collective basis, to his own release from trauma, in Lebanon,
a million years ago.

Well, I think I've just facilitated this, but things may get
tricky.... ulp. I didn't expect what David's trying to do now,
it just kind of happened.
