Subject: USS CHESAPEAKE: Changes and Other items....

{Now, you're sure you're all right.}

	Yes, I'm all right.

{I mean, you took a major beating with those finals. You're sure you're
all right.}

	Yes, I'm sure.

{I mean, we...}

	Look, I'm on a tight schedule. I'll be okay. Now can we start
this?

{God, I hope not.}

[2nd Officers Log, Stardate 90527.1040. We are en route to the Correlian
System, and I'm going nuts with boredom. Still, that's better than just
going nuts like everyone else. Brennan finally solidified his nut case
status yesterday by running out of the bridge and into the bathroom.
Yeah, I know: When you gotta go, you gotta go. But still, I haven't seen
anyone that disturbed since my Aunt Edna was insulted by one of my second
cousins.

What was that event all about? Well my Aunt Edna had always felt ....
How many of you didn't see that one coming?

Anyway, I don't know what's going on with Brennan. I'm not a mind reader.
All right, I am. But I've got to shake hands with him first. Anyway, it
looks like the emotions were caused by a strange message meant only for
him. I could have read it, but I didn't. It's more fun to pretend I read
it and see what Brennan lets slip out....]

Scene:  OPS office.
MD 8.1300

	"So Murray wants more sound proofing on her doors," th'Tellan
asked?

	"That's what the message said," Abromowitz answered as she left
the room.

	th'Tellan turned to Sereh. "I don't suppose that you know what
this is about?"

	Sereh nodded. "I suggested it to her. The doors are fairly thin.
You can hear a knife drop."

	"I believe the phrase is that you can hear a PIN drop."

	Sereh remained silent.

	"Anyway, back to these changes that you wanted to make...."

	"No, wait," Sereh said. She allowed a small amount of emotion to
enter her voice. "Before you do.... Before I.... th'Tellan, we have to
talk."

	"I see," th'Tellan responded. He forced a sly smile on his face.
"I don't suppose this is related to how the Cubs are doing."

	Sereh shook her head. "I should have told you this before. I
should have.... God, what you'll think of me."

	Tears fell down Sereh's face. th'Tellan put his arms around her,
but Sereh pushed him away. th'Tellan leaned closer, ignoring Sereh's
rebuff. "Come on, Sereh," he said gently. "Whatever it is, we'll handle
it. Just tell me what's wrong."

	Sereh stood up and hugged him, her face looking away, her eyes
shut. She felt his arms circle her waist, but didn't look up. She
wondered if she could put off what needed to be said, but realized that
she couldn't back down. "God, what I've.... th'Tellan, I want yyou to
know that I've never loved anyone as much as I love you."

	Sereh looked up, her eyes glistening. "We can't be together
anymore," she said finally.

MD 8.1400

	th'Tellan remained in meditation. What Sereh had said to him
stung like.... No, don't think about it. Focus, like a Vulcan. The last
thing this ship needs is another emotionally wrought officer. You have to
be the emotionally stable officer. You have to focus....

{And you have to tell us what happened.}

	No, I don't.

	th'Tellan stood up and glanced at a mirror. Except for the
redness in his eyes, th'Tellan's face didn't betray an ounce of his
emotional state. th'Tellan decided he would make it through is physical
today after all.

{Well, I mean, you can keep it a secret now, but you will tell us later
what the last scene was about.  Right?}

	Well, maybe.  Probably not.

	th'Tellan ws glad that he scheduled his physical for today. He
was in pain already. Besides, he wouldn't have to write the responses for
the sociological report.

{You mean that you'll just leave me in the dark?}

	Well....

{(Sound of Chain Saw.)  DIE, EVIL SCUM!!!!}

NRPG:

ALL: th'Tellan and Sereh should be a little more subdued than usual. But
they won't betray their emotions like everyone else on this ship does.

Chris: Next week, th'Tellan takes his physical. Prepare to defend
thyself, mere mortal.

Masako: All Sereh changes should be good to go.
