Subject: USS CHESAPEAKE: Everybody get Physical....

Well, it's time for th'Tellan's physical, I guess. Just let me
check with the Editor about the boundaries. Let's see, we speed dial the
number, and....

{Hi, you have reached the office of Robert J. Twanluffel. I'm not in
right now, but if you would care to leave your name, number and a brief
message, I'll get back to you after my vacation. If you need immediate
assistance, please press one to reach my secretary.  Beep.}

Uh, hi, this is Melvin. No emergencies here. I just wanted to
check in, and since you're on vacation, I guess I should give a report.
CATHY IS TOAST! MWAA - HA - HA.

Scene: Fielding's office....
MD: 7.1245

Fielding finished his lunch, and picked up his data pad. He
thought about what Melissa had said, and about the departure of Stenford.
He meant what he said about needing to clear a replacement with Murray,
but Brennan did seem to want a replacement soon.

Besides, Fielding was sure that he had the perfect replacement....

"Ens Sereh," he read. "2 years experience as aCSiO. Experience
as aCEO. Experience as a teacher, and as a teaching administrator. High
marks in Starfleet Academy. Glowing reviews from th'Tellan...."

Fielding paused over Sereh's only blemish. [Originally Lt jg, she
took a temporary demotion to Ens mainly as punishment for Complicity in
AWOL of Avikar th'Tellan. Will be repromoted to Lt jg no later than MD
23.1200.]

Fielding paused for a moment. Sereh must have taken the demotion
about the same time that th'Tellan was promoted. Military justice.

Still, Sereh seemed a solid candidate. The only question was how
to get Sereh to agree to a transfer. Promotion? Maybe to full Lt? We
can't offer a higher salary; money isn't supposed to be a part of the
payment structure. Of course, there's always the intangibles: better
office space, better facilities, better jobs. How about the thrill of
working for the Chesapeake Science Dept? Maybe he should just get the
senior staff to order the transfer?

Fielding decided his best bet was to ask a Vulcan about what would
attract a Vulcan....

Scene: Sickbay
MD 8.1500

Lt Dawnfire-to-Ennian (God, I hope I spelled that right.) looked
up as a Romulan walked into the room. "Lt Cmdr Avikar th'Tellan?"

th'Tellan raised an eyebrow. "Plus my middle name is Murdock.
<Pause.> You don't watch the A - Team, do you."

Ennian ignored the remark. "I am Lt Dawnfire-to-Ennian. I'm
sorry that Lt Cmdr Catherine Ledoux couldn't meet with you at the moment,
so I'll perform the first few minutes of your physical. Is that all
right, Lt Cmdr Avikar Murdock th'Tellan?"

"Yeah, that's fine. I just came by to say that I couldn't. Well,
see you later." th'Tellan paused as the Sivoan blocked his path. "I'm
kidding. You can relax, Ennian."

"I prefer to be called by my full name, Lt Cmdr...."

"Fine, but call me th'Tellan. Otherwise, we'll be here till
Christmas. Anyway, it was nice meeting you Lt Dawnfire t'Ennian."

The Sivoan sniffed. "Well, I suppose we should get started."

"Let me guess. You want our time together to be as short as your
stature."

Scene: Ledoux's office

Ledoux heard a crash outside her office. Rushing out, she saw
Ennian on one side of a sickbay bed, bristling. On the other side was a
Romulan that seemed familiar. Ledoux groaned as the Romulan shouted,
"Hey, looks like your temper's short, too!"

"Oh, real funny," Ennian shouted. She was trying in vain to get
around the bed that the Romulan was keeping between her. "How would you
like to be on the business end of a gynecology checkup?"

"No way. Those things are expensive."

"Enough!" Ledoux shouted. As usual, she wasn't in the best of
moods, and she definately didn't need this. "Lt Dawnfire-to-Ennian,
kindly get out the file of.... What did you say your name was, again?"

	"th'Tellan. Lt Cmdr Avikar th'Tellan."

The second officer. What was it about second officers and
sickbay? "All right, get on the bed."

NRPG:

Chris: The ball's in your court.

Masako: Same.

All: WHERE IS EVERYBODY!!!!
