Subject: USS CHESAPEAKE: Preparing for the Party
MD 13.1400 (please note change in time)
Scene: Bridge
Miraculous, thought Commander Daniel Brennan, we've arrived in one
piece, and ahead of schedule.
He had to admit that, within the last several days, he had
occasions to have serious doubts, giving some regretful credence
to Counselor Tats-Marush's original recommendation to the Captain,
which, in turn, had thrown her out of her Ready Room. But
Lieutenant Murray and Lieutenant Fielding had worked out some
mutually acceptable working relationship, as he had not heard
anything from the Sciences since Murray returned to duty.
The half hour since their arrival in system had been spent on last
minute checks of vital defense systems before the delegates were
to arrive. They had patiently waited through numerous scans by
the Corellian security grid, each scan accompanied by sideline
commentary from the Helm.
> "Cmdr. Brennan," Oz called out, "the Corellians are scanning us
> again."
"Thank you, Mister O'Graeach," said Brennan. He stifled a sigh.
> "Uh oh, looky who's here! It's a miners vessel on rendezvous
> course, and boy, does it look in need for a new paint job," he
> reported. "In fact, it looks pretty much in need of repairs as
> well. It's only the rust that's keeping it together, and I
> can't say that it's grade A rust. I think someone wants to talk
> to our head-honcho. Hey, Cmdr, there's someone trying to talk
> to you."
> th'Tellan piped up. "I'd like to add to the FCO's much unneeded
> comments to confirm the sightings and point out that the rust
> matches the grades of aforementioned FCO. Opening communications
> grid."
>
> "Tell him to beam right over," Brennan commented. "I assume
> everything will be all right."
>
> "Yeah, everything should be ready. We got all the rats out,
> although I intend to keep an eye out just in case. You know how
> rodents can be."
Brennan raised an eyebrow. "Thank you, Commander." He tapped his
commbadge. "Bridge to Captain Bell. The ShipOres delegates are
ready to beam aboard, sir."
<Transporter Room Two, Commander. I'm on my way. Bell out.>
He heard the connection close. He shoved himself out of the chair
and toward the aft turbolift. "Commander th'Tellan, you have the
conn."
The Romulan officer stood from OPS and moved to the conn. Brennan
tapped his comm badge once more. "Ensign Keyrin, Counselor Tats-
Marush, please report to Transporter Room Two to greet the
ShipOres delegates. Brennan out."
He stepped in to the 'lift as soon as the doors opened, and he was
on his way.
* * * * *
The Chief of Security and the Counselor were waiting in the
Transporter Room by the time he arrived. "Ensign, Counselor," he
nodded to them in greeting.
"Sir." Ensign Keyrin stood at ease, her hands held tightly behind
her back. Nervousness? Perhaps. This was her first mission,
after all. The Counselor seemed more at ease.
The doors to the Transporter Room hissed open and Captain Bell
arrived. She stood in front of them for a moment. "Good. All
here."
She flicked one glance at the Counselor, then moved to Brennan's
right. To his left stood Keyrin, then Tats-Marush, as they all
faced the transporter pad. Bell turned to Brennan and gave him a
quick nod. He spoke to the man behind the console without turning.
"Chief Kerrick, do you have their coordinates?"
"Yes, sir," replied the Warrant. "Ready when you are, sir."
"Thank you," he nodded. "Energize."
Respectfully Submitted,
Takako Nagumo,
CDR Daniel J. Brennan
XO, USS CHESAPEAKE (NCC-31813)
Task Force Bravo, Green Fleet
NRPG:
And... off we go! <G>
Note re change in time: Fabian originally had us arriving at 1333
hours, then his follow up was at 1500 hours... an hour and a half
seemed an inordinately long time to be in orbit and be scanned...
at least, not without some reaction from our end. Thus, the
change to 1400 hours. Which was the original arrival time, as
indicated by our CO. :) Fabian, Melvin, and Masako, I hope you
don't mind. :)
Trevin: Off to you. :)
Greg: The Corellians should be arriving on their heels. Let's not
do that later than 13.1500. The party that greets them will be
the same: Bell, Brennan, Keyrin, Tats-Marush.
