Subject: USS CHESAPEAKE: Ensign Armstrong Arrives

SD 90718.0812 (EDT)
MD 11.0800

Tarell had quickly taken his orders form Admiral Jokinen and made his
way to Shuttle
Bay 2. There he had gound WO2 Brink waiting for him, ready to leave.
After boarding
the D-warp shuttle, the two men had quickly gotten underway.

After getting settled into the flight routing, Tarell decided to do some
polite questioning.
"Tell me Chief, what do you know about the CHESAPEAKE?"

The Warrant Officer had smiled. Almost every new officer he delivered
to a ship asked
the same question at one point or another. He had learned to have a
ready answer.

"Figured you would ask that. The current personnel roster and ship
specifications are
in the computer's data base labelled CHESAPEAKE. Figured you would want
to look
it over enroute."

Tarell managed the best blush one of Klingon heritage could. "I guess I
am not the first
green officer to ask that, eh?"

Brink laughed. "Nope, and to be honest, I would be more concerned if
you hadn't. It
seems to me that the best officers tend to be the ones who prepare
themselves as
far in advance for what is coming up. So asking about your new ship is
only
the proper thing to do. Especially for engineers. They seem to always
want to know
what their ship can do, how they can make it better, and who has the
opportunity to
order him to put it in danger."

Tarell had to smile at the insight of the Chief. Indeed, he did want to
know all about his
new home. And about the people who already lived there.

Thanking the chief, Tarell accessed the computer files and began reading
over the
public personnel files. He read as much of the personal bios as he
could without
having to concentrate and then quickly moved on to the ship
specifications.

'So, the CHESAPEAKE is a Nebula III Hood. That is terrific.' Tarell
had followed
closely the re-design of the Nebula class, particularly since the MPD
system had
offered ships a tremendous range of opportunity. With the new computer
systems and
re-strengthened frame, the newest version of the Nebula class was a fine
piece
of engineering. Tarell continued going over the engine specifications
for the ship, and
noted the changes in the deck arrangement for the CHESAPEAKE. He was
just
beginning to go over the Engineering crew list when Brink interrupted
him.

"Sorry sir, but we are approaching the CHESAPEAKE. Though you might
like to
see her as we approached."

"You thought right Chief. Take us in."

As Chief Brink talked to the CHESAPEAKE and got their landing
instructions,
Tarell watched the ship grow larger. 'So, you are my new home, eh
lassie. Well,
let us see what we can do together, shall we?'

As Brink skillfully docked the shuttle in the landing bay, Tarell's
eagerness continued
to mount. Gathering his things, he impatiently waited for Brink to shut
down the engines
and open the hatch. As soon as it was clear, he strode onto the deck,
ready to meet
his commanding officers and his own Engineering staff.

NRPG: Well, I am afraid I wasn't sure how to report from there. As I
understand the
MD dates Takako, I should be arriving before Capt. Bell leaves. So I
wasn't sure
how to write for that. If anyone wants to continue my arrival, please
feel free to do so.
THe only thing I ask is that you don't write me like a typical Klingon.
I tend to think
of myself as a strange mixture of Worf and Mr. Scott. Strange, but
true.... :)

Also, is there an established NPC roste for Engineering? I really hate
writing about
"the engineer on duty". etc. If there is one, can someone tell me where
to find
that. If there isn't I can try to do that as well.

Well, I guess this is hello. I am really looking forward to this.

Yours,
Jim Newman
