"Ah, Lieutenant, at ease" Jokinen said in a cheerful tone,
bolting up from his chair. He was in a good mood today, first
time since he took over in Green Fleet, as far as his staff could
remember.
"First things first," he intoned, coming around the desk and
stood before the Betazoid. He was only twenty centimeters taller,
but some 80 kg heavier, and the contrast was rather drastic. And
to set things straight, Jokinen was not fat, he was just huge.
Nonetheless, he brought his left fist up and opened it, revealing
a small jewelry box, which he promptly opened. "It is my pleasure
to hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander," he
said, pinning the extra half-pip on Miris' uniform collar.
"This promotion comes with all the duties and responsibilities
that come with the rank. Congratulations, Commander."
"Thank you, sir," Miris responded, and they shook hands.
"Now, then," Jokinen said and leaned back, sitting on his desk.
"On to your assignment. As you should know, you are going to the
USS CHESAPEAKE, which recently had a change in command. The ship
is now under the command of Commander Daniel Brennan. I'm sure
you two will get along fine."
"I'm sure we will, sir."
Jokinen nodded, and couldn't resist a small smile. They always
agreed with him.
"Now then," he said, sighing internally as he noticed that he was
being repetitive. "ENS Lucie Lewis from the USS CHESAPEAKE is
ready to fly you to the ship in one of their own D-Warp shuttles.
Meet her in shuttlebay 2. Oh, and .." he added, reaching to the
desk behing his back, "here are your boarding orders, Commander.
Your luggage should already be in the shuttle." He handed Miris a
small PADD. "Good luck."
"Thank you, sir." Miris took the PADD, and the hint that the
meeting was over, and left for shuttlebay 2.
